The Food Trust Scotland supports the work of Cyrenians

The Cyrenians Good Food Programme

The Food Trust Scotland has agreed to support Cyrenians Good Food Programme with the provision of £500 funding for Store Cupboard and Equipment Starter Packs for participants completing one of our 8 week cooking classes.

The equipment starter pack includes pans, a wooden spoon, a chopping board and other basic cooking equipment. The food starter pack provides basic store cupboard ingredients including salt, pepper, mixed herbs, tinned tomatoes, flour, tuna, pasta, rice and stock cubes .

This very special gifting encourages individuals to continue with cooking at home after the classes are completed.

Cyrenians currently operate three Good Food Community Enterprises improving lives and promoting a better community.

The Enterprises include the Good Food Programme, CORE (Cyrenians Organic Recycling Enterprise) and our Organic Farm and cover the following activities:

  • Growing Food
  • Production and retail
  • Surplus Food Redistribution
  • Cooking Classes
  • Training care providers
  • Training and jobs
  • Community learning
  • Recycling waste food
  • Teaching Centre for REHIS (Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland) accredited courses
